Embodying the Queen: The Queen of Swords
Welcome to 2022, my friends! And welcome to my new series, “Embodying the Queen.” In this series, I will take you through the four Queens of the Minor Arcana: The Queen of Swords, The Queen of Wands, The Queen of Cups and the Queen of Pentacles.
Each Queen has a certain personality, qualities, strengths and weaknesses. When they show up in a reading, they are (most often) asking you to take on these attributes. But how, you might ask, does one “take on” a tarot card? Never fear, I am going to show you! Since the Tarot is all about images, I’m demonstrating how you can embody a particular Queen through text and pictures.
So, here we go with our first Queen: The Queen of Swords. As you can see, I wear a black and silver crown because, duh. Royalty! However, the crown is small since she’s not into gaudy ostentation. My black and white dress represents how she sees the world. No messing around with shades of gray or wobbly in-betweens here! I am of course reading a thick book while my sword rests on the desk since I believe the pen is mightier than the sword. As the Queen of Swords, I love to research and compile irrefutable evidence; you can be sure I will make clear, unambiguous, data-driven decisions. And yet…there is always time to cut up a little, to laugh and not take life too seriously.
This Queen is above all honest, forthright, witty, independant, well organized, and astute. She has a BS detector that is highly attuned and she does not suffer fools gladly. She makes a great lawyer, professor, researcher, systems analyst or scientist…as well as that friend who will call you out on whatever nonsense you have gotten yourself into. She’ll probably lessen the blow with a witty wisecrack, but when you approach this Queen, don’t expect cuddly hugs or a shoulder to cry on. She is 100% authentic and frank about her opinions and doesn’t get caught up in messy emotions. When you need a cold, hard reality check, she’s your man.
On the other hand, she retains the ability to laugh at life, herself, and those harebrained schemes you may find yourself in. While she adheres to the highest moral and ethical standards, she has been around the block enough to understand human foibles. No matter how out-of-control or embarrassed you may currently feel, she’s not going to judge you for getting into a muddle. She has gone through the ringer once or twice herself and has learned the hard way to not let herself be bamboozled by anyone - including herself!
When she shows up in a reading, ask yourself: am I being honest with myself and others? Am I letting someone or some situation delude me? Do I even really know what is going on and if not, have I done the necessary investigation to find out? Finally, am I learning to laugh in what may be a tough situation? How can I internalize her energy right now?
What else do you see in the pictures that reminds you of the Queen of Swords? Do you think I got it right? Why or why not? Let me know in the comments below. And as always, if you’d like to get up close with the Queen of Swords with a personalized reading, please email me at coffecupsandtarotcards@gmail.com.
I can’t wait to hear from you!
Much love,
Irene
You are beautiful as ever and your black and white with pops of color analogy is carried though in the furniture, artwork, and accents that surround you, Thank you for sharing and I look forward to more 😊
